Louisiana Gumbo Soup Mix

Just add chicken, sausage, okra and tomatoes, and you will have a flavor explosion of a  flavorful stew that is a staple in Louisiana.


You will need:

1 Gumbo Mix

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1-pound chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch cubes

1-pound smoked link sausage, cut into ½-inch slices

4 cups water

1 (15-ounce) can diced tomatoes, un-drained

1 (8-ounce) bag frozen cut okra



Add oil to a 4-quart pot or Dutch oven. Add chicken and sausage; cook on medium heat for 5-7 minutes or until juices run clear.

Add mix and water. Bring ingredients to a slow boil; reduce heat and continue cooking for 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Add diced tomatoes and okra; continue cooking for 5-10 minutes until heated through. (Do not overcook okra or it will become gummy.)

Serving Suggestion: Serve over rice. Add hot pepper sauce as desired.
